Ambrosino on the score sheet as Italy advance in U20 World Cup.
On May 27, 2023 by Jake IovineGiuseppe Ambrosino got a goal and an assist on Saturday afternoon in the U20 World Cup as Italy advance to the next round, defeating the Dominican Republic 3-0.
The Cittadella striker started for the second time in a row for the Azzurri in this competition. Italy were in need of three points today if they stood a chance of qualification to the Round of 16.
The Italians got on the board early when Ambrosino got his head on the in swinging corner, with Cesare Casadei finishing right in front of goal.
Ambrosino scored his first goal of the tournament in the 50th minute, after the ball rolled kindly to the Napoli loanee to finish one time on top of the box. Casadei would score another in the 84th minute to make sure of the win, putting the Italians in 2nd place in Group D.
The victory coupled with Brazil’s win means the Azzurri have advanced to the Round of 16 where they’ll play on Wednesday against the winner of Group E.
