Serie B returns this weekend after the international break as Cittadella travel to face Pisa on Matchday 10.

Two weeks on from a 2-2 draw against Ternana at the Stadio Piercesare Tombolato, the Granata are back on the road to play a struggling Pisa. Edoardo Gorini’s side will be looking to make it four games without defeat – equalling their best undefeated streak from last season.

Their Tuscan opponents have only one win in their last seven games, putting them in 13th place with nine points going into the weekend. This will be Alberto Aquilani’s first match against Gorini as a head coach, where he will try to get a much needed win for his Pisa side.

Cittadella has proven to be a bogey team for Pisa in recent seasons. The Granata have only lost twice to Pisa in their last 14 meetings, and currently hold a 12-3-7 all-time record against the Nerazzurri. Furthermore, Pisa has only one win in the last six games against Cittadella, with the other five results ending in Cittadella victories.

Cittadella head coach Edoardo Gorini listed a handful of injuries the Granata will have to deal with on Saturday afternoon in Tuscany.

“[Andrea] Tessiore has a muscle injury,” Gorini said in his pre-match interview. “He won’t play tomorrow as well as Frare, Sottini, and Baldini.”

“We tried to recover them during the international break, but unfortunately they are out. They’re on the road to recovery, hopefully next match they’ll be there.”

Newly signed center back Stefano Negro could possibly see minutes at the Arena Garibaldi because of Frare and Sottini’s absence. Negro has played one Serie B game in his career, and played 17 matches for Pordenone in Serie C last season.

Saturday will be the first 14:00 afternoon kickoff for Cittadella this season, as they return to the pitch after two weeks in Pisa.
