Cittadella claim third straight victory after Sudtirol win.

Cittadella won its third straight game for the first time since August 2021 on Saturday afternoon, defeating Sudtirol 2-1 at the Stadio Piercesare Tombolato.

Under Edoardo Gorini, the Granata had not won three straight games since Gorini’s first three games as a manger. The victory on Saturday equals that record for Cittadella and move the Venetian club into the play-off positions.

Luca Pandolfi scored the opener to make it two goals in back-to-back games for the striker. After a missed initial shot from Claudio Cassano, Pandolfi buried his effort to give Cittadella a first half lead.

Gorini’s side outshot Sudtirol 5-1 in the opening half and went into halftime a goal up. The lead would only last eleven minutes after the break as Daniele Casiraghi bagged his 8th goal of the season to put Sudtirol level. The midfielder’s low shot fired past Elhan Kastrati, giving Pierpaolo Bisoli’s team life in the second half.

It was Cittadella who once again responded quickly with a goal from substitute Filippo Pittarello. The forward responded to Casiraghi’s equalizer ten minutes later, firing a half-volley near post to give the Granata the lead.

In the 70th minute, a round of applause rung around the Tombolato as Enrico Baldini made his return to the home field after over a year. The 27-year-old suffered a brutal knee injury last season, keeping him out for majority of the campaign. This was his first game at the Tombolato since September 10, 2022.

Cittadella has now made it three straight victories while going undefeated in the month of November. Gorini’s side will recharge and get ready to face newly promoted Feralpisalo next weekend in Piacenza.
