Cittadella is on the road for the first time in 2024 as the Granata face Ternana on Saturday at the Stadio Libero Liberati.
Edoardo Gorini’s side took care of business last weekend, defeating Palermo 2-0. The Cittadella boss is expecting a difficult game against a struggling Ternana side.
“I expect a similar game to the one against Ascoli,” Gorini said in his pre-match press conference. “When a team needs points to survive, every point and action is important.”
The Granata are currently riding a nine game unbeaten streak, stretching all the way since Oct. 31. Ternana sits in the relegation zone entering the weekend, having picked up only a point in the last three games.
Cittadella will be without club captain Simone Branca for the trip to Terni due to yellow card accumulation. Francesco Amatucci has returned to the squad list for the match, Gorini confirmed on Friday.
Despite the positive streak for Cittadella, the Venetian side has only beaten Ternana once in Serie B history at the Stadio Libero Liberati. October was the last time these two teams met, finishing as a 2-2 draw in Cittadella.
Le Fere will be hoping that new signings Franco Carboni and Gaston Pereiro can help the team avoid the drop to Serie C. The Umbrian team lost several key players including Cesar Falletti, Alessandro Celli and Niccolo Corrado during the winter market.
Under Roberto Breda, Ternana has improved to a 3-3-2 record since being appointed as head coach in November. Breda has faced Cittadella 12 times as a coach, winning only once and settling for five draws.
Ternana has made it difficult for Cittadella in the past at the Stadio Libero Liberati. Both teams on opposite ends of the table are looking for a big three points in the 21st match of the season.
