Gorini expects a ‘different’ match against Spezia on Saturday
On February 16, 2024 by Jake IovineCittadella head coach Edoardo Gorini spoke to the press before traveling to Liguria to face Spezia on Saturday.
The Granata have lost four straight games heading into the match at the Stadio Alberto Picco. Spezia still finds themselves inside the relegation zone despite recent results in favor of Le Aquile. Saturday will be Cittadella’s first trip to La Spezia since January 2020, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Here’s what Gorini said on Friday on the eve of Cittadella – Spezia.
On Emil Kornvig’s transfer to Norwegian side SK Brann:
“I spoke with him, and even though in these last six months where there wasn’t much space for him, he had great behavior and gave everything in training. At first, he had some difficulties with the language.
“He came to me and said he’d like more playing time, he was very sincere and I understood his situation.”
Squad updates:
“Pavan and Stefano Negro won’t be at the match tomorrow. Pavan tried to train this week but still had some issues so he still needs time. Salvi will also miss the match due to this week having the flu with a high fever.”
On the match against Spezia:
“I expect a ‘hot’ match where we must give everything to get the points. We know it won’t be easy because Spezia is a team that has changed many players and is managed by a great coach that has gotten a win and two draws recently.”
“It will be a different game than the one in December. Until the 75th minute when Pittarello scored, it was a tight game. Spezia is a team of great quality, at the start of the season they had a squad built for Serie A. The results didn’t go the way they expected, but they are still a quality team and a team we need to respect.”
