Cittadella must end the season well against Cremonese, Gorini says.

Cittadella head coach Edoardo Gorini spoke to the press before the Granata‘s last match of the season against Cremonese.

Gorini’s side were eliminated from playoff contention last weekend following a 1-1 draw with Bari. Cittadella have gone 17 games in the league with only one victory to their name, sliding the club out of the playoff zone after a bright start.

Cremonese will be heading to the playoffs to try and reach Serie A after being relegated from the top flight last season. Giovanni Stroppa’s side are locked into 4th place and will not play another match until May 21 after tomorrow.

Squad updates:

“We had three training days this week, so not a lot of time to recover everyone. Carissoni is still dealing with a knock he picked up in Como. The rest is similar to last week: Pandolfi will be out with a back injury, as well as Stefano Negro. Alessandro Salvi and Andrea Danzi are recovered.”

On the end of the season:

“We are not going to Cremona to have a picnic, we need to close the season well. We have been in the play-off zone for most of the season, so I think it’s right to finish in a high position like 9th and not in 14th. I will field a competitive team with the intention to play and win. I would like to give space to some players who haven’t played as much, like I did the other day with Saggionetto.”

On tomorrow’s defensive formation:

“Tomorrow I will start with three in defense. At the end of the first half against Bari, we changed it because we didn’t have a lot in the attack, but in the second half we created some chances. It’s another alternative formation that we have and we’ll see if we can implement it tomorrow.”
