Cittadella sack Edoardo Gorini after three seasons at the club
On October 11, 2024 by Jake IovineEdoardo Gorini has been relieved from his coaching duties at Cittadella, the club announced on Friday morning.
The decision was made six days after Cittadella’s biggest defeat in club history, losing 6-1 against Sassuolo. Gorini ends his head coaching stint with a 38-43-48 record as the Granata sit 18th in Serie B.
“AS Cittadella announces that it has relieved Edoardo Gorini of his duties as coach of the First Team,” the club said in a press release. “The Granata club wishes to thank Mister Gorini for the seriousness, professionalism and passion shown in the work carried out in these seasons at the helm of Cittadella.”
Assistant coach Roberto Musso will takeover Gorini’s position for the moment, the club said.
Gorini was appointed in the summer of 2021 following Roberto Venturato’s six seasons at the club. Under Gorini, Cittadella finished 11th, 15th and 14th in Serie B, failing to reach the promotion playoffs in three straight seasons.
Cittadella is set to host Cosenza on Oct. 19 at the Stadio Piercesare Tombolato, which will be the first match under a new coach.
