Carrarese vs Cittadella: Dal Canto returns to Carrara for second match in charge

Alessandro Dal Canto returns to Carrara for his second match in charge of Cittadella as the Granata face Carrarese on Saturday afternoon.
Dal Canto was the head coach of Carrarese for 62 games, leaving in the winter of 2024. Saturday at the Stadio Dei Mari will be the 49-year-old’s second match on the sidelines at Cittadella following the Granata‘s 0-0 draw with Cosenza last weekend.
“I had a good year and a half with them with good memories,” Dal Canto said in his prematch press conference. “I take the positive from the experience and I still have many friends there. I like seeing them again.”
Saturday will be Carrarese’s second home match at the Stadio Dei Marmi following recent renovations to the stadium. The Tuscan side drew 1-1 with Mantova last weekend, putting them level on points with Cittadella going into the match.
Cittadella is statistically the worse attacking team in the league, scoring five goals in nine games. The Granata have scored two goals in their last five games, making them the lowest scoring team in Serie B.
Saturday will be the start of four games in 15 days for Dal Canto’s men, who have a quick turnaround on Wednesday against Sampdoria. Five of the next eight opponents for Cittadella currently sit in the top half of the league, making Saturday a great chance for three points.
“Let’s focus on getting a result against Carrarese, then we’ll think about Sampdoria and so on,” Dal Canto said. “The players must be aware that they can compete against anyone. Let’s think about one game at a time. We must have the right tension, but not fear, otherwise it’s better to not to even start.”
